They cover the cutouts in your rim and — if you're running a tube — they protect it from spoke heads and other sharp matter (okay, so maybe they have TWO jobs but they do them both really well.) Rim strips are crucial and should be used with all Surly rims. Ours come in an array of colors so you can really "express yourself." Surly Rim strips are available in two different materials: PVC and Nylon. PVC is great if you plan on only running tubes. However, if there's any part of you that wants to try this tubeless thing you've been hearing about, Nylon strips are just the ticket. They're thinner and offer minimal stretch so they stay put and lay nicely inside the rim to provide a secure seal. Plus, they're lighter which we all know means you'll go faster… maybe.

Remove tires in seconds! Prestalever is Quicker and Speedier than anything you've ever used. Our Patent-Pending Rim Hook with Honeycomb reinforced box-section is the key to our faster, safer, easy-to-use tool. As you scoop the tire bead with the Prestalever, the slot underneath we call the "rim hook" naturally drops inside the rim. It prevents the Prestalever from slipping out, so you don't drop the bead. The rim hook stops the Prestalever at an easy-to-hold angle on the side of the rim. Then you simply glide the lever around the rim, and the tire peels-off as you go. The Prestlever is made of slippery Nylon, greatly reducing the force needed to remove tires. When you're done, twist the Prestalever 90 degrees to raise the rim hook out of the rim. Our box-section design allows the twist-action to easily stop at 90 degrees so the lever slides out easily. Install tires without strain. Our thick tip on the tire installer-end prevents catching and pinching tubes inside your tire. The bead-grabbing edge gives the right balance between leverage and lifting force, making it as easy as possible to complete tire installation. Presta Core tool is now essential. Even Bicycle Presta tubes now include removable cores. This gives you the added option of using tire sealant inside the tube of your standard tire. Removable cores are not always fully tightened at the factory. A loose core could cause slow leaks, or could even become unscrewed while using inflation devices. Tubes should be checked during installation and regularly afterwards for Presta core tightness. Don't carry an extra tool for chains! The Prestalever quick-link breaker is an effective emergency tool if you need to remove your chain on the road. Third-hand Tool for Hand Installation Certain tires have delicate beads. Tire manufacturers recommend hand-installation only. The Prestalever can be used as a "third-hand" tool. When you hand-install the bead in one direction, the tire starts lifting-out at the other end. Insert the lever at one end to hold the bead, then use BOTH hands to install the tire from the other end. Tubeless Tire Removal (or any Difficult Tire) The Prestalever is the #1 tool for removing difficult tires. Using two or three can help with the toughest tire and wheel combo's. Insert a lever, but do NOT flip it yet. The rim hook will hold the lever in place, but unlike traditional levers that hook onto spokes, the bead will NOT be tensioned. You can still fit-in more Prestalevers. Insert the levers spaced about 6 inches apart, then flip them all … one-at-a-time. Even the toughest tires will come right off the rim in seconds. Prestalever is different… designed from the start with real-world experience on bicycles. SPANK Industries Fratelli Tape is a special ultra-light polyamide, adhesive tubeless conversion tape, which is ideal for SPANK's patented OohBah profile rims. Thicker, less pliable tapes are often difficult or impossible when taping complex rim profiles.
