Matt Donovan

Owner & General Manager at Dedham Bike

Matt Donovan is the 3rd generation owner and manager of Dedham Bike having started working at the store part time with his dad as a 12 year old back in 1985. 

Matt worked his way up through the ranks at the shop and eventually took over the head mechanic's roll and then became the store manager in 1995. Matt has seen pretty much everything when it comes to the ins and outs of bicycle mechanics and retail. 

Since he could ride a bike as a child Matt has had a love of all things bicycle. He grew up racing BMX at a track his dad ran and then moved on to mountain bikes in his late teens. After a few years of racing cross country mountain bikes Matt threw his hat in the downhill arena. He eventually turned Pro and raced for some of the most rad bike brands out there such as Spooky, Rocky Mountain and Intense winning multiple races and titles along the way. After a successful DH run Matt rode mostly for fun and exercise but eventually got into racing on the road and developed a love for cyclocross racing. 

After his twins were born Matt stepped away from racing for the most part to spend time with his family and to focus on continuing the legacy of Dedham Bike. These days you'll usually find Matt at the shop where he enjoys all the aspects of running a family owned bike shop or hitting up the local trails and roads. Matt's kids are starting to show interest in pinning a number on so don't be surprised if you see the Donovan family tearing up a racecourse in the New England area soon or behind the counter at the shop!
